The Russian Language Institute is the main educational and scientific structure of the RUDN University. The Institute includes 2 centers, 4 educational units, 7 departments of the Russian language. Currently, there are 220 teachers, including 19 Doctors of Science, 97 Candidates of Science and 7 Professors. An experienced team enables us to pursue:

educational programs of higher education;
PhD programs;
further education programs, including the program "Interpreter in the field of professional communication" (for foreign citizens);
expert analysis;
project activities;
linguodidactic testing for TBU/A1, TBU/A2, TRKI/1, TRKI/2, TRKI/3, TRKI/4 levels.

Strategic guidelines of the Russian Language Institute are as follows:

1. Maintaining the RUDN leading positions in promotion of the Russian language and the cultural heritage of Russia in the modern civilization treasure.

2. Creation of highly competitive educational programs and products that meet the needs of a transforming global society.

3. Development of classic scientific and scientific - methodological schools, different scientific directions, as well as the creation of new interdisciplinary research areas in the context of the global challenges of the RUDN promotion in the following fields: "Linguistics", "Pedagogy", "Modern languages".

More than 3,000 students are trained at the Institute. The unique system of educational work and support services for foreign citizens (language, information, social and cultural) are aimed at the successful socialization of foreign citizens in Russia. Due to a wide network of cultural and scientific educational events, international students receive effective extracurricular support in learning of the Russian language, general education subjects, and get acquainted with the culture of Russia.

History of the Russian Language Institute:

1960 - Establishment of the Pre-University Faculty, the oldest faculty in the University

1967 - Establishment of the Faculty of Advanced Training of Teachers of Russian as a Foreign Language (FPKP RKI) - the first educational center in the USSR aimed at the professional and educational needs of Russian philologists

2006 - Renaming of the Pre-University Faculty to the Faculty of Russian Language and General Education Disciplines

2017 - Establishment of the Further Education Center “Horizon”, aimed at teaching Russian to various target audiences

2020 - The first intake of students in the Digital Pre-University Faculty (DPF)

2021 - Establishment of the Russian Language Institute

2021 - Establishment of the Center for the Promotion of Social and Cultural Adaptation and Intercultural Communication
