Meeting with an Italian astronaut
Russian University of Peoples' Friendship will be visited by the first Italian woman astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti and the President of the Italian Space Agency Roberto Battiston, pilot-cosmonaut, doctor and scientist Oleg Yurevich Atkov and first Counselor of the Italian Embassy in Moscow Walter Ferrara.
 | Samantha Cristoforetti The first Italian woman astronaut worked on the International Space Station as part of the ISS-42/43 crews (November 23, 2014 - June 11, 2015) along with Russian Anton Shkaplerov and American Terry Wörts. She is a specialist in mechanical engineering (holds a Master of Science degree), a fighter pilot of the Italian Air Force with the rank of captain, and also a master of aeronautics. She studied at six universities in Italy, Germany, France, the United States and Russia and is fluent in six languages. |
 | Roberto battiston President of the Italian Space Agency and member of the Government Committee, which advises the Minister of Research and Universities. Founder of the research team in Perugia, working in the field of border detectors and technologies that will be used in basic physics research - ground and space, and laboratories for studying the effects of radiation on special materials. |
