3rd place in the Third International Student Competition for Professionally Oriented Translation
Congratulations to our student Elisaveta Tikhonova on receiving 3rd place in the Third International Student Competition for Professionally Oriented Translation!
Elisaveta Tikhonova is studying English and Chinese in the program “Translator in Engineering Fields and Specialties.” She is happy to share her emotions and impressions about the last competition: “It was incredibly exciting to participate in this competition, where I took third place. Using sentence construction rules and hieroglyphs was an incredibly fun experiment. It is worth clarifying that I also managed to discover new aspects of this amazing language.
I especially liked the process of searching for analogues from the Chinese language to express ideas in Russian, because, as you know, Chinese is a unique and complex language that is difficult to compare with any other. This required creative thinking and careful choice of words to accurately convey the meaning.
It was also a big challenge to use the correct terminology in technical translation, since I had no experience in this field. I had to spend a lot of time reading additional information and research to find the correct interpretation of the terms.
Having taken 3rd place, I feel proud and satisfied that I was able to overcome all these difficulties. This experience taught me not only Chinese language and technical translation, but also that with constant dedication and effort, any goal can be achieved. It was an amazing challenge and I am grateful for it!”
