Famous neurosurgeon Aldo Spallone is a new visiting professor at FNMO MI RUDN
Professor Aldo Spallone, a renowned neurosurgeon, science attaché at the Italian Embassy in Russia, began his duties as a professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Faculty of Continuing Medical Education.
Professor Spallone presented the faculty team the dean of the FNMO MI RUDN http://fnmo.rudn.ru Pavel Petrovich Ogurtsov at the next academic council.
Aldo Spallone has extensive experience in neurosurgery. At various times, he headed the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at the Lazio Neurological Center in Rome, worked in London (United Kingdom), New York (USA), Havana (Cuba) and in Moscow at the National Medical Research Center of Neurosurgery named after Academician NN Burdenko under the leadership of Alexander Nikolaevich Konovalov , Chief Neurosurgeon of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, President of the Association of Neurosurgeons of Russia, Vice-President of the World Federation and the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies.
Aldo Spallone is a member of the American Association of Neurosurgeons, the European Society of Neurosurgery and the Italian Society of Neurosurgery.
Professor Spallone is the author of more than 150 scientific articles published in leading international journals, 118 of which are in Scopus. H-Index 22 at Scopus, 29 at Google Scholar, acted as lead speaker at more than 80 international conferences, and conducted more than 4,500 neurosurgical operations as a surgeon.
The contract with Aldo Spallone marks the start of cooperation with the University of Tor Vergata (UniversitàdegliStudidiRomaTorVergata, Rome. Italy), where Professor Spallone, since 1994, is the leading professor in the field of neurosurgery.
The cooperation between FNMO MI RUDN and the University of Tor Vergata, in particular, provides for the creation of double residency programs and the possibility of internships for residents, graduate students and staff of departments dealing with neurosurgery.
The Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of the FNMO MI RUDN, where Professor Spallone will work, is currently undergoing an organization process. It is expected that the recruitment of students for its programs will start in September 2019.
